Sylvie’s Experience: Day 2 Session 1

July 8 2013 BY Keely

Today’s blog comes from camper Sylvie Coston. Sylvie comes to us from Montana and is a pure delight to have in the camp. It’s rare not to see a smile gracing this girl’s face as she rips by, flannel whipping in the wind. Miss Coston has been to every camp since the beginning three years ago.  Take it away Sylvie! #girlsmovingmountains

My name is Sylvie Coston. I am 16 years old and from Stevensville, Montana. My parents got me racing when I was 6 years old. That is 10 years of shredding the gnar. This is my third year of Keely’s Ski Camp For Girls. I have attended other camps at Mt. Hood but it doesn’t even compare to this one.

Friendships! Sisterhood! We all have one thing in common, we love to ski race. I have met some unbelievable skiers here. They become friends forever. This year I’m blessed to have my good friend Stella Gardner here. We have been skiing with each other since we were seven.

Keely has brought together a staff of women coaches that have proven themselves at the highest level of ski racing. Keely, Jess Kelley, Hailey Duke, Megan McJames, and Chelsea Marshall provide an environment that pushes young women to be their best everyday. This camp is about more then ski racing. It’s about a lifestyle. A lifestyle where mountains are our friends.

Training with world class athletes at Hood is motivating. I’m getting a platform for the upcoming season to achieve my goals and dreams. Thanks to these coaches for providing this opportunity for us to learn to go fast!
