Anna the Sparkplug: Blog 4 Session 2…skiing and singing

July 21 2013 BY Keely

Anna Szabo first came to camp three years ago. We all remember her first time ever cross blocking, along with her reaction in video, “Is that me…SHUT UP! NO WAY?!” Anna is now a cross blocking genius and an incredible young lady. Here she is to tell us about day one of GS:

Hi! My name is Anna, I’m from Montana,  and I’ve been coming to this camp since the beginning.  This camp has been the best week of my summer for the past three years.  I have met so many new friends and learned so much from the coaches, not only in skiing but also life lessons.  Everyday is  fun and the girls here are an amazing group.  Each year I gain so much from the camp and I am very happy that I get to come (Thank you mom and dad!).  I was so excited when Keely asked me to write a blog! So here is the story of my day, enjoy! : )

Today was another wake up at 5:30 AM and before long we were back in the vans for another great day of skiing.  After a few free runs to get used to our GS skis we were ready to go!  The groups switched coaches so we could get a different perspective from this amazing group of skiers.  We all got in some good runs and headed down for another great meal from Keely’s mom (camp cook).

During our free time Keely wanted to learn the ‘cup song’ by Anna Kendrick from the movie Pitch Perfect, so Annika Linkenbach taught her. It was a lot of fun jamming out in the kitchen for a little while then off to game day for dryland!!  Dryland was extra fun today playing soccer then ultimate football.  Everybody was tired and sweating from running around so most of us went for a quick jump in Salmon River.  I’m just going to say it was a LOT colder than it was a few days ago!

Maci, Annika, Zoe and I were going to preform The Cup Song by Anna Kendrick but sadly Annika wasn’t feeling too well (hope you feel better hun!).  Today was still lots of fun for all 26 of us and I think the coaches had a blast too.  I hope you enjoyed this blog, I loved writing it!

P.S. Annika got out of bed a minute ago. She’s feeling much better. She said the ‘show must go on.’ We sang it in the kitchen. I’m on the left, Annika is in the middle, and Maci is on the right. Go to this link to watch us! :
