Ski Racing Camps
Each session at Keely’s Ski Camp is seven days, three days on snow, one day off and then 3 days on. Summer is an opportune time to develop and improve technique, for this reason we emphasize drills each day of skiing.
The first day focuses on free skiing and drills on slalom skis. Day 2 & 3 are more drills and slalom gates. Day 4 is OFF and we offer fun activities either in Hood River or Portland. Day 5,6 & 7 are GS gates, free skiing and drills. Day 7 is also the travel day.
At Keely’s Ski Camp many of the all female coaches are recently retired from the U. S. Ski Team or are still racing at the highest levels (Olympic, World Cup, Noram, NCAA and FIS). Each day on the hill the coaches offer world-class visuals by training with and coaching the girls. Keely’s camp uniqueness comes from the coaches being able to execute ideal ski technique for athletes to learn from. The 5:1 athlete to coach ratio provides individualized coaching and feedback for each athlete.
Mt. Hood is known as the best summer training and skiing in the United States. The girls will be skiing on the Palmer Snow-field on salted snow to provide firm and optimal training conditions.
Lodging is at the Mt. Hood Academy House located in the heart of the summer ski racing capital, Government Camp. It is a 15-20 minute van ride from the Academy House to mountain. The Academy house, operating as a ski academy in the winter months has six spacious bunk rooms with 28 beds, full kitchen where Keely’s Mom chefs up incredibly healthy meals for the girls, dining hall, gym, tuning room and a video analyses room. It is a two-minute walk into Government Camp.
Following lunch and video are afternoon activities including: yoga, hikes, ultimate Frisbee, soccer, capture the flag and innovative U.S. Ski Team workout techniques.
Following lunch, video from the day of training is provided for each group. Video will be updated daily on sprongo.com enabling your daughter and you to watch improvement.
Journals are provided at each camp. Ski journals are an important way to document improvement and coaches encourage daily journaling during video sessions.
