Session 4 Day 2: Huckleberry Mania!

July 31 2014 BY Keely

Today started out with the normal 5:30am wake up.  Pretty much everyone got out of bed sloth like, loaded their  skis into Jerry being careful not to scratch him (due to Keely’s threat “If you scratch Jerry I will come after you”!).

We all “GOT IN THE VAN!” excited to get on the mountain.  After a fun and tiring morning of GS training we eagerly lined up for chef Jelly Bean’s (Keely’s Mom) gourmet hotdogs.

Dryland followed soon after including a hike up to an explosion of  huckleberry bushes. We picked  SO MANY huckleberries (popping some in our mouths) for our delicious home cooked dessert courtesy of Maple (Coach Chelsea, by the way did you know she skied in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics?).

As we headed back we were told we where going to relieve our muscles by taking a 4-8 minute ice bath in the freezing cold creek.  While every girl attempted this task only a few completed it. Our legs felt like icicles! Everyone rushed to the hot showers hoping to get there first.

For dinner we had tasty burritos and AMAZING huckleberry crisp for dessert (all our hard picking paid off). Afterwards we watched video taken that morning receiving great feedback from coaches.  We can hardly wait for our third day on the snow tomorrow!

Super exited for the rest of camp! Thanks for reading!
