What are the arrival and departure windows for Mt Hood Overnight Camps?

Portland International Airport (PDX) is a longtime Best U.S. Airport award winner for ease of use, friendly staff, and a safe flying environment.

If driving please check in at 4:00pm. No earlier please.
If flying please arrange flights to arrive into Portland International Airport (PDX) between 9:30am and 2pm.
If you are flying and using our shuttle service, 9:30am-2pm is your arrival flight window. We ONLY provide transportation for athletes traveling within this flight window, Unaccompanied Minors included. Note: if you travel outside of our flight windows you will be responsible for paying for and arranging your own transportation to and from Government Camp and PDX.
Because of the large flight time windows your daughter may be waiting for several hours for an appropriate number of campers to fill a van. We do our best to accommodate every athlete equally.
We will have Keely’s Camp coaches excitedly waiting for campers at Baggage Claim #2.
We charge any camper flying as an Unaccompanied Minor a one time fee of $150.

Overnight Camp Departure Days for 2024

We ski the last morning of camp.
If driving please pick up at 12:00pm.
If flying please arrange flights to depart Portland International Airport (PDX) between 2:00pm to 6:00pm. If you are flying and using our shuttle service, 2pm-6pm is your departure flight window. We ONLY provide transportation for athletes traveling within this departure flight window. Earlier flights WILL NOT BE ACCOMMODATED including Unaccompanied Minor flights as it interrupts our camp training schedule. Note: if you travel outside of our flight windows you will be responsible for paying for and arranging your own transportation to and from PDX.
We charge any camper flying as an Unaccompanied Minor a one time fee of $150.
Overnight campers are expected to be self sufficient and responsible enough to manage their way through PDX i.e. make it to baggage claim, checking in for their flights, and getting through security on their own.

What are the arrival and departure windows for Big Sky November 2023 Camp?

If you are flying to Big Sky Camp (November 2023) and planning on using our transportation service please arrive between 10am – 2pm on Nov. 15th and depart between 2pm-10am on Nov. 21st.

What is the daily schedule for the Mt. Hood Ski Racing Overnight Camp?

Summer 2023 Overnight CAMP TENTATIVE Schedule

Note – Times are estimated and subject to change due to weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances.

5:30am – Wake up & breakfast

6:15am – Load vehicles and drive to the mountain

6:30- 6:45 am Group up and walk to the Magic Mile Chairlift

Note – Campers need to have a ski backpack with everything they will need for the day i.e. equipment, snacks/lunch, water bottle, sunscreen, warm layers, and anything else they typically need for training

7:00am Campers load Magic Mile Chairlift

7:30am Ride Palmer Chairlift and meet their designated Coach and group for the week at the top of our lane

Note – Campers will be with the same Contact Coach and Group all week. Groups are based on age.

7:30-9:30am Drills, gates, and training in designated groups

9:30-9:45 Snack, sunscreen, water break, video analysis

*Each day we provide on hill instant individual iPad video feedback. Campers can visualize what they need to work on and go try it right away!

9:45-12:00pm Drills, gates, and training

12:15-12:30pm Depart Timberline parking lot & go have lunch

2:00-4:00pm Afternoon Activity

5:00pm Camper time to tune skis, rest and recover.

6:00pm Dinner

6:30 – 7:30 Team meeting & activity

8:00pm In houses & room checks

8:30pm Lights out, dream of skiing!

What is the schedule for the 10 day overnight camp?

Tentative Weekly Schedule 10 Day Overnight Camp
Day 1: Orientation, put into ski groups, drills and skills on slalom skis
*Athletes will be designated a coach and a group on day one and will remain with their group the entire session.
Day 2: Slalom gate training
Day 3: Slalom gate training
Day 4: Slalom or GS gate training
Day 5: GS gate training
Day 6: GS gate training
Day 7: Day Off Activity!
Day 8: GS or SL
Day 9: GS or SL
Day 10: GS or SL & departure day. If flying please see our flight windows.
*Afternoon activities will be from 2:30pm to 4:30pm each day.
**Video analysis will be in ski groups on hill or after lunch.

What should I pack?

What is your phone policy at camp?

We are a phone/technology free camp. Once you arrive your phones/technology will be checked in during our first nightly meeting. Phones will be returned on the last day of camp before travel.

How will she take photos at camp?

Bring a disposable camera or other type of camera
Keely’s Camp Coaches take photos during camp and will share all pictures with you via Google Drive at the end of your daughter’s session

We have operated camps for over a decade & thousands of girls have attended. In 2019 we created our phone/technology policy because we noticed the distraction and disruption phones were causing in our camper experiences. We strongly feel that campers make more friends and focus diligently on the mountain/activities without the distraction of their phones. We appreciate your parent support of our phone policy.

There is no wifi in the mountains, but you’ll find a better connection. Thank you for your understanding!

I want to do two sessions back to back. What do I need to know?

If you want to participate in two sessions back to back please know that there are two days off snow in between all of our sessions i.e. Session 1 ends June 17th & Session 2 begins on June 19th.

It is up the the parent to supervise their daughter in between sessions. Keely’s Camp will not provide lodging, meals, or supervision for overnight campers doing back to back sessions.

How do I tune my skis at camp?

Please bring your own tuning equipment. We recommend you come to camp with your GS and SL skis tuned and ready to ski on. If you have questions about tuning we will be happy to answer and assist. KC provides a bench for tuning with vices. Again, please bring all your other regular tuning equipment.

I just started ski racing, am I ready for your ski racing camp?

We require at least a year of ski racing experience to handle Mt. Hood’s terrain. For younger athletes we require that you know how to pack your own ski bag, organize and keep track of your equipment, and carry your own equipment to the lift each day. Please email keely@keelyscamp.com to inquire about your ability and/or send video of your skiing to us!

How are ski groups assigned during my session?

We assign groups by age to facilitate social bonding within athletes. We make necessary changes if there is a wide range of ability within a ski group.

How do I fly to camp?

Check out our video on Mt. Hood airport arrivals (for all other camps we will send specific instructions on airport pickup). If you are flying as an unaccompanied minor, we charge a $100 service fee.

What daycare options exist for my other kids?

If you are looking for something for your other children to do during the day while their sister is at camp, we would recommend this daycare option.

What is your Covid 19 Policy?

Effective 2023 Keely’s Camp no longer requires campers or staff to be vaccinated for COVID-19. We do ask that if camper or staff are not feeling well or test positive for COVID-19 prior to camp please reach out to Lindsay at lindsay@keelyscamp.com. Please know that day camp opportunities still exist.

Will there be any video analysis?

Each day we will be providing individualized on hill iPad video analysis. From our experience, visual feedback during training sessions has proven to be the most productive and powerful use of video. Campers can take what they see in their on hill video sessions and instantly implement changes into their skiing. iPad video is a powerful tool for visual improvements and growth throughout the week!

We share camper video to Google Drive after each day for campers and parents to review on their own.

Note: We do our best to take video each day the athletes are in gates (we do not usually take video on drill days).

*Coaches do our best to get video each day of athletes, sometimes we do miss them and we apologize if we miss a video clip

Does Keely’s Camp send my daughter home with an evaluation of her skiing?

Keely’s Camp does provide end of camp written evaluation cards that will also be emailed to you! We also require that your daughter comes to camp with a ski journal. Coaches can help her write down important improvements and skills learned during her individualized on hill video sessions. Your daughter will come home with a journal full of feedback and skills learned for her upcoming season!

Will there be opportunities to demo skis at camp?

There are opportunities in Government Camp to demo skis from different ski companies. Early June to mid July are when all the ski companies’ demo centers are open. Summer training is a great time to try different equipment from a variety of ski companies. Please let us know throughout your session if you would like assistance and advice with ski demos.

Do you celebrate birthdays at camp?

If your daughter has a birthday during camp please let us know. We will have a special celebration for her!

What afternoon activities do you do at camp?

Our Overnight Camp afternoon activities include: field games, relays races, obstacle course, agility work, team building exercises, and exploring the beautiful Mt. Hood area on different hikes and adventures.

These activities will depend on weather conditions. Skiing always take precedent over afternoon activities. If campers are showing fatigue we modify our actives as we see fit to get the most out of our energy levels and time on the mountain.

How old do I need to be to attend the overnight camp?

We accept ages born in 2011 and older for the 2023 overnight camps. We designate ski groups and lodging by age so campers have the opportunity to ski with and create friendships with girls their age from all over the country!

Are lift tickets included in camp?

Yes! Lift tickets are included in camp.

Due to unforeseen circumstances including weather and/or lift operations/closures there are no lift ticket refunds.

What is your medication policy?

If your daughter can not take her medications on her own (and needs reminders from coaches to take daily prescription medications) then we recommend the day camp for your daughter.

If your daughter takes regular or daily prescription medication please make sure that you have informormed Keely’s Camp of this during registration, on pre camp information, or with an email to lindsay@keelyscamp.com.

We ask that your daughter be self-sufficient in taking her medications. Since we are a cell phone free camp, we recommend your daughter comes to camp with a simple watch to help her be independent with taking her medications.

If your daughter is bringing the medications to camp without a prescription bottle, please email a photo of the prescription bottle to lindsay@keelyscamp.com.

How do you handle unaccompanied minors?

We are happy to welcome unaccompanied minors, we do charge a $100 service fee.

How do I tune my skis at camp?

I want to do two day camp sessions. What do I need to know?

If you would like to participate in two day camp sessions please know the arrival and departure days. We have two days off snow in between each of our sessions, giving you time to explore the local Mt. Hood area with your family. Zoom orientation for all of our day camps is at 7:00pm PST on the arrival days.

Do you use WhatsApp to communicate with day campers during camp?

Yes! We use WhatsApp every day to communicate with day campers. This is our main line of communication during each session. Please download WhatsApp prior to the start of your daughter’s session. If your daughter would like to be on the WhatsApp text please add her as well. Thank you!

What is your Covid 19 Policy?
