Mother’s Day Tribute: Mothers Who Coach

This Mother’s Day we’re honoring a special kind of champion—the women who guide our campers on the mountain and at home. At Keely’s Camp, our coaching staff is made up of mothers who bring the same patience and courage to coaching as they do to parenting. Balancing the responsibilities of family and sport, they model resilience, leadership, and compassion every day—on and off the snow.

Coaching and motherhood share so many of the same strengths: listening closely, encouraging growth, and celebrating progress. On the hill, these coaches read a nervous skier’s shoulders, offer the exact supportive cue that unlocks confidence, and quietly cheer on small wins. At home, they nurture, protect, and push their kids toward independence with that same steady resolve. The result is a powerful circle of influence—women who teach by example and inspire young athletes to trust themselves.

Coaching and motherhood share core strengths—listening, encouraging growth, setting limits, and celebrating progress. These coach-moms build resilience through routine, recovery, and confidence‑building conversations that translate to smarter, bolder skiing. The result is a powerful feedback loop: women who lead by example, sharpen technical skill, and inspire young racers to trust their instincts when it matters most.

Coaches Keely Kelleher, Alice McKennis, Pam Tucker, Chelsea Marshall, Suki Horton, Madaileine Kingsbury, Megan McJames, and Lindsay Mann Davis have little skiers of their own, all while inspiring and empowering young girls on and off the ski hill.

Their dual roles matter. As moms they bring empathy, patience, and a long view of development; as coaches they transform those qualities into clear teaching, strong safety standards, and creative progression plans. Together, they cultivate an environment where girls learn to lead, take intelligent risks, and celebrate each other’s successes—lessons that last a lifetime.

This Mother’s Day we’re grateful for the fierce compassion and strength of our coach-moms. We honor the long days, the early mornings, and the countless small moments— the extra pep talks and the thoughtful problem-solving—that shape confident skiers and confident people.

Join us in saying thank you to these amazing women! Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Keely’s Camp —to the moms who coach, and the coaches who mother: your work changes lives.
