Girl On Fire Ski Sponsorship Winner End of Summer Update!
We asked our 8th Girl On Fire, Autumn Ellingford Rhodes, to share some highlights of her summer…
Check out her September update!
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to give you an update on my summer! I was able to ski with Keely and my home mountain, Squaw Valley, this summer at Mt Hood. This was my second camp with Keely and I loved it even more than the first.
The coaches are all so fun. Waddle: I’m looking at you! From the first day on snow with the camp I could already feel myself improving. I tend to be a little squatty when I ski, so Keely helped me stand taller and I’m still focused on moving my hips forward. In addition to ski camp, I spent my summer wake surfing, mountain biking and reading a lot of books. I was also able to take some rafting trips in Oregon and the highlight of my summer was rowing the Wild and Scenic stretch of the Rogue River in my own raft. I’ve already started school and I have been working pretty hard to get ahead for the ski season. I’ve also been working out a lot to stay in shape. I try to do dryland three days a week and incorporate rollerblading as often as possible. I’m planning to ski at Copper this fall and I’m also going to Switzerland with American Downhiller this month. Thanks to Anna Sullivan and the Director’s Cup for helping me get a scholarship! Something I really want to improve on leading into this season is my mental performance. I know most of us have had a tough couple of years and I have been focusing on my mental health. Be strong athletes- we got this! Lastly, I recently got evacuated from my hometown of South Lake Tahoe, California due to the Caldor fire and I want to give a shout out to the firefighters for keeping South Lake Tahoe safe! THANK YOU!
Stay awesome,
Autumn Ellingford Rhodes
