Keely’s Camp On The East Coast: Big Snow Slalom Camp For Girls Recap

We were thrilled to host our third ever indoor ski camp on the east coast this September! If you have ever been to Big Snow American Dream in of Rutherford, NJ you’ll know it guarantees a fun time- we can’t help but grin when skiing with all girls.

Due to the high volume nature of this camp, athletes jumped right into slalom gates on day 1. We were so impressed by how quickly everyone adjusted to being back on snow, muscle memory is so fascinating! Athletes also participated in free ski drill session in the afternoon resulting in 40+ laps for day 1!

Speaking of muscles, we were thrilled to host Lexie MacPhie- a doctor of physical therapy and founder of Mountain Physio & Wellness from Jackson, WY- on zoom for an informational session about optimizing your performance this winter. Lexie walked athletes through a basic anatomy lesson and then got them up and moving in a variety of balance, strength, and coordination activities. It was so fun to learn about the ways our bodies recover, move, and get stronger!

Per usual, witnessing the friendships formed between campers was a major highlight of the camp. Campers Simone and Eliza met this past summer at our Mt. Hood Ski Racing Camp for Girls and have since become close friends- they excitedly shared that they coordinated coming to Big Snow together for a weekend of sleepovers and skiing! We love seeing how Keely’s Camp friendships endure far past camp, for our athletes, parents, and coaches alike.

Big Snow encompassed an excellent weekend of training, bonding, and growth- we can’t wait to cheer on all of athletes this season. Catch us at Big Snow American Dream again in May 2025 for another awesome camp!
