How To Pack For Ski Camp: Travel Tips & More
All ski racers know that the sport requires A LOT of gear. Packing is always hectic- even when you think you’re ahead of the game. Traveling with ski gear also gets expensive quick so we are here with our best packing & travel tips so you are prepared and efficient when packing for camp this summer! Even if you are driving to camp, consolidating your gear with our tips will set you up for success. Check out our packing list if you are unsure what you should bring to camp!
- Pad your ski bag with your ski clothes. Try to keep your ski bag under 50 LBS to avoid extra fees at the airport, but put as much of your ski gear in there as possible. We would recommend wrapping your skis in your towel for swimming, jackets, snow pants, hats, buffs, and other ski clothes. This also helps protect your skis while flying!
- Bring your boots as a carry on item. Ski boots are the hardest item to replace as they are often customized for your feet. We would recommend bringing them as your carry on item on the flight just in case your bags get lost!
- Pack light- part of the joy of summer camp is simple living. We recommend packing plenty of warm layers and keeping non-ski clothes to a minimum—staying cozy is always the way to go! And don’t forget to leave a little extra space in case you purchase a fun merchandise item from our camp store.
- Invest in a compression sack if you are flying with a sleeping bag- this will save you so much space! We recommend this one.
- Along the lines of organization, utilize some packing cubes! We like bringing one large packing cube for ski and dryland clothes, one for dinner and cozy clothes, and a small one for underwear and socks. Check out these fun packing cubes from Baggu!
- Use every empty space in your bag. For example, use your helmet to shelter fragile items (like sunglasses) or just for extra space!
