Meet Maia Anne Harrison: This Year’s Katie Hensien Ski Racing Sponsorship Winner

We are so excited to introduce you to this year’s Katie Hensien Sponsorship Winner Maia Anne Harrison.

Maia is 12 years old and from Franconia, NH!

Her coach describes her as “A standout. We have spent countless hours together on the hill and she has always shown up with a tenacity to learn and to ski outside of her comfort zone. In all conditions- cold, rain, and snow, she is always present with excitement. She loves all things skiing. Whether skiing in the moguls, woods, powder or ice she is always smiling and having a great time with her friends.”

Maia’s tenacity and contagious passion for ski racing was very evident in her application. She detailed her pre race routine saying, “Having a great warm-up routine will help me better prepare for a successful day on the hill. It will also help me prevent injuries. And it will also help reduce my anxiety and stress. I want my warm-up to be as close as possible to professional skiers and ski racers and I am inspired by Mikaela Shiffrin. She never gets to the top and goes full send to the bottom. I don’t do this either. I take a couple of runs warming up. I do a dynamic warm-up first which is stretching and other movements to warm up my body. After that, I do simple drills like wedge turns and hands on the hips or picking up the inside ski. These simple drills will help me prepare mentally and physically for the day ahead.”

As this year’s Katie Hensien Sponsorship Recipient, Maia will receive a spot to our 2024 Mt. Hood Ski Racing Camp for Girls and a 30 Minute Zoom with Olympian, Keely’s Camp alumna, and U.S. Ski Team Member Katie Hensien.

We can’t wait to have you at camp in 2024 Maia!
